Marginimea Sibiului is a unique ethnographical region in Romania, that includes 18 localities situated in south-west of Sibiu district, in Transylvania, all having an ethnological, cultural and architectural heritage and a unique history.
Among the characteristics that define the specific of this region, there is the traditional, national costume, easy to recognize by it’s white-black combination.

The most important customs of Marginime are connected with the winter holidays. 'Colindatul feciorilor' and 'ceata Junilor' are two of most appreciated customs. The specific dances of Marginine are man-hood dances like, braul or sarba lui Ghiboi. The traditional occupation in this region is sheep breeding . Sheepherding is an occupation dating from centuries, expecially, in the in north-west villages.

Sibiu, is only 20 km far from Saliste (aprox. 15 minutes by car), can be rightly considered Romanian’s cultural capital due to it’s ancient traditions, artistical and cultural patrimony that Sibiu owns, being one of the most culturally active towns in Romania: 2 theatres, 1 philharmonic, 1 cinema, 5 libraries, 5 cultural centers, 6 cultural institutes,10 museums.

All these combined with the beauty of the old medieval town, make Sibiu, a destination that must not be missed.
